Almost 30 years ago, Bob and Gayle Pacheco, founding members of WVEF, bumped into a Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD) teacher at the old Kmart in Diamond Bar. She said she was buying school supplies for her classroom. After going to another store, they saw the same teacher again buying more school supplies. This was the genesis for the idea to raise funds to provide grants to teachers so they wouldn't have to be out of pocket for things they need in their classroom. This was the birth of the WVEF Teddy Bear Tea and the Teacher's Mini-Grants.

All parent fundraising groups and booster clubs serving the Walnut Valley Unified School District family of schools are asked to create a themed raffle basket with the iconic teddy bear to raise funds at Teddy Bear Tea.  South Pointe Community Club will putting together a basket this year with a Snoopy/Peanuts/Knotts Berry Farm theme.  The funds raised will go back to directly supporting the teachers and their students.
