About our Foundation:
The Santa Clara Firefighters Foundation is the charitable arm of the Santa Clara Firefighters
Local 1171 labor organization. The Foundation is a fully authorized, non-profit charitable
organization 501(c)(3) that is committed to helping those in need.
Our mission is to promote the welfare of the community by providing services, programs, &
support to youth, seniors, disabled, & disaster victims.
A Few of Our Programs that your support will help fund:
Better Together-A leadership program which provides 6th grade students with coaching and
mentorship in order to learn life-long skills. This program pairs two facilitators from Local 1171
with the students and encourages them to openly discuss challenges and opportunities..
Senior Assist -A yard clean up program designed to help senior citizens within the City of Santa
Clara. The firefighters of Santa Clara Local 1171 volunteer their off duty time to make this
program work.
Firehouse Run -A Santa Clara community 5k family walk or run, in person and virtual running
event established to support Santa Clara Unified schools. The race starts and ends at Santa Clara
University and takes place in December of each year. To date, The Firehouse Run has donated
$75,000 to Santa Clara Unified Schools.

First Responders Resiliency Inc
First Responders Resiliency, Inc.™ is a program developed to decrease stress and enhance
resiliency in first responders. They are a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization created For First
Responders, by First Responders, and are dedicated to the psychological and physical well being
of those who are serving, or have served, in the industry. When tragedy struck our department
last year, First Responders Resiliency provided a modified version of their retreat to members of
the Santa Clara Fire Department. Our goal is to pay that forward. We hope we can help fund that
same service to other agencies.
How do they support first responders?
● They provide First Responders with the necessary
skills to improve resiliency.
● Hosting clinics and retreats focused on supporting First
Responders in their physical, emotional, and relational
well-being
● Training First Responders how to implement these
techniques on the job and in everyday life
● Encouraging those who have retired, or have served,
to become mentors or peers
THE WHY?
➔ More first responders die by suicide EVERY YEAR
than die in the line of duty.
➔ First Responders have life expectancies of 15 years less
than civilians
➔ First Responders have a 70% divorce rate
➔ First Responders have a greater chance of dying by
stroke, heart attack, and cancer than the very people
they serve.
