I. Organization Background
The Circle of SistAhood is a nonprofit mentorship program based in Waxahachie, TX, dedicated to empowering African American teen girls aged 12-17 from socio-economically disadvantaged families. Since its launch in 2022, we have impacted over 100 teen girls and their families across Ellis, Tarrant, and Dallas counties. Our mission is to foster self-esteem, leadership, education, and holistic well-being for teen girls through mentorship, advocacy, and community-focused programs.
II. Project Summary
The Teen Empowerment Summit is a one-day event designed to address the multifaceted needs of teen girls by providing free community resources, activities, self-empowerment speaking and mentorship in self-development to empower them in key areas of their lives. This summit will focus on boosting self-esteem, promoting educational success, fostering self-empowerment, and teaching essential life skills like financial literacy, self-care, building self-esteem, ability to showcase talents and fashion, mental health awareness, medical health, self-entrepreneurship, and career/college readiness.
III. Program Objectives
The Teen Empowerment Summit aims to:
Build Self-Esteem and Confidence: Address emotional barriers and equip teens with tools to embrace their worth and capabilities.
Promote Mental and Medical Health: Provide access to mental health discussions, medical awareness, and wellness education.
Teach Financial Literacy: Educate teens on budgeting, saving, and understanding financial independence.
Highlight Career Exploration and Entrepreneurship: Introduce internship pathways, career readiness, and entrepreneurial skills.
Foster Personal Care and Self-Love: Offering community resources and learning objectives on skin care, hair care, and overall wellness.
Empower Talents and Creativity: Create space for girls to showcase and nurture their unique skills and talents.
IV. Program Activities
The summit will feature:
Community Resources to include:
Self-Esteem Building: “Embracing Your Voice” with certified therapists and mentors.
Educational Success: College prep, study skills, and goal-setting resources.
Mental & Medical Health: Mental health awareness discussions with licensed counselors and medical health education with local healthcare professionals.
Financial Literacy: Budgeting, saving, and career readiness with financial experts.
Entrepreneurship & Internships: Community Resources on building entrepreneurial ideas and internship readiness.
Self-Care & Wellness: Skin Care: Professional skincare routines for teens.
Hair Care: Healthy hair practices for all hair types with industry professionals.
Keynote Speaker: A motivational speaker will inspire and empower participants through personal stories of success and resilience.
Talent Showcase: An opportunity for participants to express themselves through talents such as art, music, dance, and spoken word.
Resource Fair: A space for local organizations to share educational, health, and career-related resources for teens and families.
V. Expected Outcomes
By the end of the summit, participants will:
Have gained tools for self-confidence and self-awareness.
Gained tools to navigate mental health challenges and prioritize medical well-being.
Improve their understanding of financial literacy, savings, and career pathways.
Develop healthy self-care habits, including skin and hair care.
Feel empowered to embrace their talents, pursue education, and build leadership skills.
Have had access to over 50 local Community partners and resources to address, medical/ physical health, career/college, mental health, self-entrepreneurship, and social gains for the entire family.
VI. Target Audience
The summit will serve 100 – 125 Teen Girls aged 12-17 from socio-economically disadvantaged families in Ellis, Tarrant, and Dallas counties.

IX. Sustainability

The Teen Empowerment Summit will create a transformative space where teen girls can develop confidence, learn essential life skills, and prioritize self-care and wellness. By addressing the critical areas of self-esteem, education, health, financial literacy, and leadership, this event will empower young women to thrive in all aspects of their lives.
