The Great Duck Derby is back to make a splish and a splash to continue sharing local love and impacting local lives!

This QUACKtastic event will unite the community in support of United Way of Hunt County and local nonprofit organizations. The Great Duck Derby, presented by Splash Kingdom Waterpark, will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023. The Derby will allow sponsors, duck adopters, and the community to enjoy the waterpark before their official season opening on May 27, 2023.

Leading up to the Great Duck Derby, 5,000 ducks will be up for adoption to race around the Splash Kingdom’s Jet Stream (Lazy River). Ducks can be adopted for $5 each. Each duck is numbered, and each number represents an adoptee. The first three ducks to cross the finish line will be winners! First prize is $1,000, second prize is $500, and third prize $250. There will be additional prize opportunities like Last Duck In, Random Duck, Duck in the Drain, and more. United Way of Hunt County will offer multiple in-person opportunities to adopt a duck, and online adoption is available (greatduckderby.org).

There will also be many ways to get EGGcited for the Great Duck Derby! In appreciation of your sponsorship support, we will show our gratitude in various ways. Duck Selfie Stop, social media mentions, and logo display are a few. Plus, to fluff the community feathers, there will be Dollars for Ducks contests, coloring pages, and more!

All profits will go towards United Way of Hunt County’s mission of improving education, promoting healthy living, and helping all residents of Hunt County achieve financial stability. Funds are used to sponsor Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, provide neighborhood Little Libraries and Mini Food Pantries, offer mobile shower services, support local nonprofit projects with Partner Agency funding and more.
