The Summer Challenge
Other Event Type for Frederick County - Public LibrariesJun 01, 2022 9:00 AM to Aug 01, 2022 9:00 PM
Frederick County Public Libraries is a modern midsized public library system in Maryland, and our mission is to offer the best possible library services to the people in our community.
Each year, FCPL’s annual summer reading program, the Summer Challenge, is the BIGGEST and most anticipated event. The Summer Challenge is all about life-long learning, and everyone can participate, from babies to seniors in retirement.
Last year, our community read 4,193,048 minutes together. This is a big deal because studies show that public library-supported summer reading programs can help school-aged children gain and retain important academic skills when they’re out of the classroom. A problem made worse by the effects of the pandemic. And, we know that students are more likely to read when families are reading together.
This year, the need is extremely high, and we’re expecting a dramatic increase in participation in our annual summer reading program.
If you’re able, please consider supporting the library’s Summer Challenge so more students can return to the classroom ready to read and succeed. We need donated gift cards prizes to help motivate and encourage our summer readers to reach their goals.
Your donation will be deeply appreciated and acknowledged on our website throughout the summer.
