Dyslexia is just one of the diagnoses that a student may have here at The Winston School San Antonio (WSSA). A learning difference is a neurological disorder that affects people's ability to either interpret what they see and hear or to link information from different parts of the brain. Disparities in learning abilities affect each person differently and disorders can range from mild to severe. People with learning differences may have difficulty with reading (dyslexia), writing (dysgraphia), math (dyscalculia), language and reading comprehension (dysphasia), memory, logic, and reasoning or organizing information. One in seven Americans has some type of learning difference, according to the National Institutes of Health.

WSSA welcomes children from grades K through 12 who demonstrate high potential and identified learning differences. With that in mind, we believe in providing the nurturing and compassionate environment that fosters the mutual respect, self-confidence, social-emotional support, and resilience necessary to overcome what others may see as adversity.

As a nonprofit 501 (c)(3), we rely on different sources of revenue which enables us to sustain our mission of providing a unique education for those who learn differently. The annual Gala & Auction is the biggest fundraiser of the year! The Sunglasses at Night Gala will be held on March 4, 2023, at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort. The proceeds from the benefit are used to support the academic needs of students and enables us to offer tuition assistance to those families who may have a financial hardship.
