We would like to invite you to partner with us on Saturday March 7th for our annual Tip Top Run 5k/10k Dash and Bash. This event celebrates the eradication of Caulerpa taxifolia (the killer algae that threatened the health and recreational use of our lagoon) and helps to raise friends, funds, and awareness about our amazing resource. Two unique courses provide one of a kind views of the Lagoon, Pacific Ocean and sage scrub trails. During the finish line celebration, runners join the World Water Day Bash with exhibitors, music, games, activities for the whole family, a beer garden, and lunch generously donated by the run’s namesake- Tip Top Meats.

Why donate? Your generosity will directly benefit the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation’s educational programs which serve over 8,750 students and 25,000 visitors annually. Additionally, physical activity yields positive impacts for both employees and employers. Research shows that physical activity is directly linked to mental firepower leading to quicker learning, sharper memory, improved concentration and prolonged mental stamina. Lastly, San Diego is home to the largest concentration of military personnel and dependents of any other state. Military personnel make up 7.6% of San Diego’s entire population and 60.7% of that is made up of children. Give back to those who give so much.

Party after the race! Both runs end at the Agua Hedionda Discovery Center located at 1580 Cannon Road where the World Water Day Festival is in full swing from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. This is a free family fun event with vendors, exhibitors, live music, a beer garden, games, activities and crafts. New this year includes Miss Smarty Plants, from the Water Conservation Garden in Escondido. She teaches guests about the importance of water conservation and earth stewardship with a special mixture of music, magic and fun! Additionally, The Raptor Institute will bring live raptors native to San Diego County to educate guests on their behavior, adaptations and reliance on native habitat for their survival.

The Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation welcomes and encourages corporate groups to participate in Tip Top Run and compete for awards against other similar groups. This year, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation will be giving out prizes for both the largest and fastest corporate group.
