The Tivoli Theatre is currently promoting our annual fundraising event to raise much needed funds for the non-profit Tivoli Theatre in Spencer, Indiana.  The city of Spencer is located in Owen County Indiana which is approximately one hour southwest of Indianapolis and a few minutes west of Bloomington.

 The Historic Tivoli Theatre is a fully-restored single screen movie theatre dedicated to showing new release weekend movies, free repertory movies, and great live events. Operated almost completely by volunteers, the theatre has ADA compliance seating for 286 patrons plus a balcony available for rental.  In addition, we offer meeting rooms for the community and provide a location for live entertainment events.

 Our live fundraising event is scheduled for February 10, 2023 (Silent Auction begins January 27, 2023). Last year we raised over $25,000 and our goal for this year is $35,000.  Our sponsors enable the Tivoli to offer free movies to the community throughout the year, to offer free children’s movies during the summer, and to provide affordable live entertainment. In addition, the money raised is used to purchase supplies and equipment and to help with capital projects. This year we would like to contract for professional cleaning of the seats, carpets, and stage curtains.

 The Historic Tivoli Theatre is a place for memories. It started 94 years ago and continued even through the pandemic. During the first month of reopening during the covid pandemic we had 62 private rentals which helped the theatre to stay afloat.  One of my favorite rentals was a husband that rented the theatre for his very pregnant wife.  As you recall, at the start of the pandemic pregnant women were considered high risk and were told not to go anywhere.  The husband rented the entire clean and safe auditorium so his wife could get out for her birthday.  The two of them enjoyed popcorn, water and candy while watching her favorite movie in the theatre.

 The pandemic is still impacting theaters across the nation and small theaters especially have found it difficult to stay afloat. For this reason, we need your support more than ever. If possible, we would greatly appreciate any donation you can provide for the silent auction.
