Together At Kwanzaa Fest
Carnival/Festival for African American Community Collaborative/ African American Dance EnsembleJan 01, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 6:30 PM
Imani, which means faith, is the final principle in the Kwanzaa tradition. Kwanzaa Fest is a free event sponsored by the African American Dance Ensemble, and will take place at the historic Durham Armory.
Kwanzaa is a celebration for ALL people, focusing on family, friends, and the fruits of the earth. Celebrating the holiday season and Triangle's diversity, AADE’s annual Kwanzaa celebration is a time to enjoy family, community, and culture. Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, community, and culture, centered on seven basic values as building blocks for peace and progress within neighborhoods.
Kwanzaa appeals to a diverse audience, as AADE seeks to preserve and promote the finest traditions of African and African American dance and music to the broad community. In celebration of these principles, each day we will have health screenings, and a Children’s Village, delicious foods, lots of dancing, fun for the entire family. Kwanzaa Fest is both an open market for vendors and a performing arts concert, filled with dancing, singing, poetry, and more.
As the new year begins, the community can home in on its faith and create a collective consciousness to build a better tomorrow.
