Field day is practice for  emergencies  using ham radios. It is a day set aside by the ARRL  for the operators of amateur  radio come come together to highlight our many roles in communications. 

We invite the public  to learn about ham radios and how to obtain their  fcc license or how to upgrade their  current one.  We give the attendees the opportunity to operate  a ham radio. Classes are offered to the public  for licensing.
