For 112 years, the Boy Scouts of America has provided a values-based, character education program by focusing on personal advancement, growth, and leadership development. As a non-profit organization, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) provides the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, which helps young people be “Prepared. For Life.” The Scouting organization is composed of youth members between the ages of 5 and 21. 

The Northeast Illinois Council currently serves 4,655 youth in Lake and Northern Cook County. NEIC is split into three districts. Our annual BSA Popcorn Fundraising Sale which starts in August will soon be underway. 

Our Popcorn Fundraising Sale calls upon our Scouts to sell product within their community. In 2023, our fundraising goal for this event is $1,000,000 in gross sales. Participating is a learning experience for Scouts, with great benefits such as personal growth, sales management, decision making, and building people skills. 70% of their total sales comes back to local Scouting.  
In December 2023 we will hold a VIP celebration for our Top 50 Popcorn Sellers and Dave and Buster’s in Vernon Hills complete with pizza, entertainment and fabulous prizes for our top fundraising Scouts. We are seeking in-kind donations to reward each Scout attending with prizes valued between $100-$150.
