Green City Force is a local non-profit that serves public housing residents ages 18 to 24. We are an AmeriCorps program actively working towards an equitable and inclusive green economy that is powered by and centers the voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). During their 8-10 month service terms, our members are engaging in service to New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA - the largest public housing community in the nation) communities across the city serving organic produce grown at our six farm sites across NYC in NYCHA developments and actively addressing social, food, and climate injustices. In the process, our young people are getting training and certifications that will support them gain access to employment in the green job sector.

We are hosting our annual bike ride, Tour De Farms, on September 23, 2023. The goal of the ride is to bring awareness to issues involving the climate crisis, frontline communities facing intersecting issues, as well as workforce development and service. We anticipate 75-100 riders stopping at two of our urban farms, and then another 100 at the culminating fun and social event (so 200 at the end) at our GCF graduate's and inaugural David Prize winner Domingo Morales Compost Power's site in Domino Park.
