UCLA Center for Health Policy Research 30th Anniversary Gala
Gala/Party for Regents of the University of California - UCLA Chapter/ UCLA Center for Health Policy ResearchNov 13, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

The UCLA Center for Health Policy Research (CHPR) is celebrating 30 years of building evidence and advancing health equity. UCLA CHPR has been pioneering ways to put data and research into the hands of people who need it for the last 30 years. We give policymakers, advocates, health care providers, community organizations, researchers, journalists, and other stakeholders the evidence-based data to assess different aspects of health and then work on policies that can improve the lives of Californians through better health and health care.
We run the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), the largest state health survey in the nation, which features data on topics such as health insurance, mental health, access to and use of health care, health conditions and behaviors, and many topics that influence health, such as food insecurity, housing stability, discrimination, fears of gun violence, climate change, and much more. We look at data across a range of sociodemographic factors, such as race and ethnicity, income/poverty level, sexual orientation and gender identity, gender, immigration status, age, with a focus on illuminating health disparities and working to advance data equity and health equity.
On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, we will host a gala celebration and awards dinner to honor the leadership, researchers, and partners who have been integral to CHPR’s milestone achievements during the last 30 years that have made California the state to emulate in health policy. From our leadership in helping to expand the Affordable Care Act, to providing credible and comprehensive data on the health and health care needs of California’s diverse communities through the California Health Interview Survey, to the dozens of research projects that shine a light on inequities across the state, the event is an opportunity to reflect on our beginnings, reconnect with alumni and supporters, and imagine our future.
The event will bring together CHPR staff past and present, researchers, policymakers, advocates, health care providers, community leaders, partners, public health leaders, and the public to celebrate three decades of innovations and successes, and honor the wonderful people who support and inspire our health equity work every day.
As part of the fundraiser we will have a silent auction. Proceeds from the event and silent auction will support research, data, trainings, student programs, and more.
