Under the Umbrella Swimming Camp will be offered to child/ adults diagnosed with Autism.  This camp will be held at one of the local pools, and taught by a certified Life guard.  The purpose of this camp is to have children/adults diagnosed with Autism learn 1) water safety and 2) learn to swim.  Individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder of ASD gravitate towards water; usually ending with tragedy.  Pediatics magazine states that 49% of children diagnosed with ASD wander. Futhermove Aquamobile states that "91% of children diagnosed with Autism between 2009-2011 were from accidental drowing.  In Laredo, Texas we have over 750 individuals diagnosed with ASD, and we will be coming on the one year anniversary of our first autism drowning.  The monies gathered for this grant will pay for each individual student to use the facility and pay for the instructor's salary.
