Unidos Sí Se Puede (Vol. 2) Civic Youth Fair
Other Event Type for American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial MissionsMar 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM
This event will be on Friday, March 22nd, from approximately 10 am to 1 pm at St Philip's College on the Eastside of San Antonio. For our civic event, we are hosting politicians, labor rights activists, local musicians, and 100 to 200 San Antonio high schoolers to talk about Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta and how to engage with their communities through volunteering, jobs, internships, and civic duties like voting. As part of our event, we are going to have some resource partners who can share information for youth that may be helpful regarding food security, housing, civic engagement, job opportunities, volunteering, and any other related services. In particular, our goal is to teach students about Cesar Chavez, civic engagement, and getting them empowered and engaged in their communities through volunteering, internships, and jobs.
We are looking for sponsors to help with the cost of t-shirts, raffle prizes, and snacks for the youth to enjoy the event. If your organization can donate technology items, fun experience or monetary prizes, or funding to boost the event, we would very grateful.
With your help, we can keep the cultural alive as a Native American non-profit, while also uplifting underrepresented students who face a variety of systematic barriers in many different socioeconomic contexts.
Thank you so far to St Philip's College for sponsoring the venue and HEB for sponsoring gift cards for the youth!
