 Santa Monica Black Empowerment Association, SMBEA, is hosting our 2nd Annual Unity Gala on November 8th, 2024, at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club. This exclusive black-tie event will feature special celebrity music and dance performances for an elegant and inspiring evening.

 Norm Nixon is being honored with the Dr. Alfred Quinn Award. As a former Los Angeles Laker, Nixon inspired young athletes, particularly within the African American community, through his skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. Apart from his NBA career, Nixon has made a lasting impact on the community and SMBEA through his advocacy and service. He has championed diversity and inclusion, empowered underrepresented voices, and demonstrated leadership that extends beyond the court.

 The Santa Monica Rotary Club is being honored with the Community Ally Organization Award for its unwavering dedication to service and community betterment. Its commitment to fostering unity, promoting education, and championing social causes has made a profound impact on countless lives in the community, SMBEA, and beyond.
