Hokuloa Outrigger Canoe Club will once again host its annual Ventura Outrigger Challenge race on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Harbor Cove Beach in Ventura, where competing teams will battle it out in this 6-man iron outrigger canoe race on the open ocean with views of the spectacular Channel Islands. This event draws hundreds of men, women and youth paddlers and their families from all over Southern California to spend the day racing and enjoying all that the Ventura Harbor has to offer. 

Much like the Hawaiian Big Star, our club Hokuloa is rising to fulfill its Mission; promoting the sport of outrigger canoe paddling while at the same time connecting with our community as stewards of the ocean we love! We honor the rich Polynesian culture and traditions that are a part of outrigger. Our club also supports the local community, offering one of the few competitive water sports in the area. This year the club is celebrating its 36th anniversary. Over the years, our membership has grown from a small club in 1989 to a membership today of over 100 Adult and Keiki (youth) paddlers. 

Hokuloa Outrigger Canoe Club is asking for donations for the fundraising Raffle and Silent Auction that will be held on the day of our race.  Proceeds from this event will go to the yearly operating expenses of our club. 

Hokuloa Outrigger Canoe Club operates as a 501(c)(3) organization and your donation is tax-deductible based upon the IRS regulations. Our Federal Employer Identification Number is 77-0353988.  Following the race, Hokuloa will provide acknowledgment of your contribution for your 2025 tax records.
