Description

Take us out to the ball game… in Kennebunk! The Brick Store Museum hosts a Vintage Base Ball Game between the Dirigo Base Ball Club of Maine vs. Mudville (of Holliston, MA) at 12:00pm on Saturday, July 1. The game will be played on Kennebunk’s Parsons Field, at the corner of Dane Street and Park Street. Tickets to the game are $5 per person, with children under 12 free.

“Making history come alive is our job,” Executive Director Cynthia Walker says. “this vintage baseball game is an example of how communities can have fun with the past. It’s something that’s touched all of our lives.”

The game will feature vintage sports costumes worn by players, and the game will be played by 1860s rules (which includes NO mitts!). Participants will receive the rules of play in order to follow along. Attendees are encouraged to bring camp chairs and picnic blankets to enjoy the game. A concession stand will be on site with hot dogs by Shields Meats and other game-day snacks. Alongside the game will be a vintage-themed Victorian community bazaar, selling homemade desserts, raffle prizes, kite-making for kids and live music. A great day out for the whole family in support of the Museum's educational mission.
