Virginia Intern Day - 7/27
Other Event Type for Conservation Legacy/ Southwest Conservation Corps - Appalachian Conservation CorpsJul 27, 2023 11:00 AM to Jul 28, 2023 11:00 AM
On July 27th, Virginia celebrates the second annual Virginia Intern Day! Governor Youngkin signed a proclamation recognizing the inaugural Virginia Intern Day on July 28, 2022, aligning with National Intern Day on the last Thursday of July every year. National Intern Day is an opportunity to recognize employers who have provided robust internship programs that benefit our future leaders of tomorrow and highlight interns' pivotal contributions to our ever-changing workforce.
This year, Appalachian Conservation Corps' Individual Placement Program has hired and supported 20 Virginia interns to gain experience in the conservation field at various sites doing projects that include Invasive Plant Management, Resource Management and Maintenance, Education and Interpretation, Digital Design and Science Communications, Historical Research and Preservation, Cultural and Natural Resource Management, and Land Monitoring/GIS.
We will be celebrating these interns on Virginia Intern Day with an event at Shenandoah National Park and are seeking donations to gift the interns for the amazing service they have been doing. So far this year, our Virginia interns served a total of 16,958.90 hours! (That’s almost 2 years!) You can learn more about our program here.
