For over 47 years, The Foundation Schools has removed barriers in our students' lives to help them create brighter futures. As 100% are diagnosed with an emotional disability or autism and 80% live in poverty, our students live with significant disadvantages that have only been further challenged by the pandemic. We work hard to close the achievement gap and keep our students healthy every school year, and this fall you can play a part by contributing an item to our October 18-20 Virtual Auction! This exciting online event will raise funds for the many wrap-around support programs that our students access, including our breakfast/lunch program, basic needs and family therapy services, college/career guidance, and mental health programming. 

The Foundation Schools serve over 300 students each school year from throughout the Washington, DC metro area. Our mission is to provide a highly specialized educational and therapeutic program for students identified with emotional disabilities, as well as those with social, emotional and learning challenges, preparing them to be lifelong learners. We operate three school campuses in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties and tailor our programs to meet each student’s individual needs.
