Voices of Aphasia
Gala/Party for Adler Aphasia CenterJun 12, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Our annual gala on June 12th will bring together 300 + friends and prominent community members together to celebrate and honor the founders of Adler Aphasia Center who have since passed. We will be offering a Silent Auction filled with exciting experiences and highly desired items to bid on and hope you will be able to contribute. The funds raised will be put towards scholarships for members, providing support groups to their caretaker/family and allow us to continue education programs for healthcare professionals, consumers, educators, students, speech-language pathologists and others interested in improving the quality of life for those affected by aphasia.
With the recent announcements of Bruce Willis and Wendy Williams being diagnosed with Aphasia, it has helped raise awareness of this disorder. Aphasia is a communication disorder caused by a stroke or traumatic brain injury and affects 40% of these survivors. It is estimated that 2.5 million people live with aphasia in the US. Adler Aphasia Center in NJ, a non-profit organization with three full-service facilities, has been around for over 20 years. The Center’s programs and activities work towards enhancing the communication skills of its members and providing opportunities for social and peer support, while building members’ self-esteem and confidence.
