At WMS, we absolutely ROCK and we SOAR! 

We are a National Blue Ribbon, STEM certified, public magnet school, educating students in grades 4 thru 6.  Recently, we have been ranked as the #2 elementary school in the State of Georgia by US News and World Report.  We have also been named a FY '21 Title 1 Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education. All of our core subject teachers are gifted certified and the student to teacher ratio is 12:1.  We have STEM partnerships with Science ATL Professional School Partnership and Metro Atlanta Urban Farm, as well as various extracurricular activities such as band, orchestra, Beta club, supper club, the YMOD/YLOD student service organization, a Robotics club, and more!  In the past, our scholars have won the top prize at the Social Studies and Science fairs, for the district and state level.

Through this event, the WMS PTA is raising money to support our students in every way - educationally, socially, emotionally, and financially. 

*To support our scholars educationally, the funds will be used for STEM activities, supplies, and field trips.

*Socially, the funds will help fund different WMS clubs and events already in place, but also assist in defraying the costs of COVID mitigation strategies. 

*Thirdly, the pandemic has radically changed what a normal school day looks like.  It is our principal's dream to build an outdoor classroom for our scholars. Then, they will be able to engage more freely with their teachers and peers, thereby improving their emotional health.

*Fourthly, the WMS PTA has a Sunshine Fund to support anyone in our Panther Nation who is experiencing financial difficult.  We would like to increase the amount of money in that fund to be able to help our families who may be enduring unexpected money woes due to the pandemic.

Our final goal of the event is to raise funds to finance the marketing and recruitment plan for the WMS expansion thru 8th grade. We describe ourselves as "a little gem of a school" but also want to bring in more students and expose them to the high value WMS experience.
