Description

Ye Harar Lijoch Without Borders (YHLWB) will hold its annual fundraising event on September 3rd, starting at 2 pm in Alexandria, VA. Our goal is to raise enough funds for our new water thriving projects. In the past few years, our organization focused on drilling water wells to provide clean water for the school communities. This year, we are expanding our efforts out of the school grounds to drill water wells for the city to help alleviate the water scarcity facing the people of Harar. In planning this major project, YHLWB sent a team of expert hydrologists to Harar to conduct an extensive study. The expert team has identified locations to provide the community with sustainable well water resources. YHLWB is collaborating with the local government on a cost-sharing basis to work on the project. In this event, our goal is to raise $40,000.

Why will donors want to participate? In this event, potential donors can partner with Yehararlijoch and leave a lasting legacy for all life forms in our community. Having clean drinking water in a community prevents starvation in people and animals, and it is essential for food security, biodiversity, and the ecosystem. Access to clean drinking water is a remedy for unhygienic conditions: it helps students get the education they deserve and not stay home because of illness due to waterborne diseases (whether drinking, cooking, bathing, or washing). Hence, clean drinking water will elevate people out of poverty, improves their quality of life, and make them productive in their communities.
