Description

Raise Your Visibility While You Build Student Success

Dear Valued Supporter of Waukegan to College,

On October 20th, the Waukegan to College organization will be gathering together with our scholars and our community to celebrate our 10 Year Anniversary—10 years of building First-Generation Success!  This is a much-anticipated milestone, one that allows us to recognize the success of our college graduates while outlining our plans to multiply that success going forward.

But—we also believe the celebration is an important opportunity for your organization and your leadership.

Contribute to Our All-Important Silent Auction; Stand Up and Be Counted

Our Silent Auction is always a much-anticipated element of our annual fundraiser. Our attendees look forward to the auction, and it generates a substantial portion of the profits from the event.  And with our 10th Anniversary, we’re hoping this year’s auction is bigger and better than ever. We are seeking donations of merchandise and services. Donations will be listed in our program, and are tax deductible to the extent of the law.  Items that have auctioned well in the past include: dinners, a weekend getaway at a hotel or condo, autographed sports items, professional sporting event tickets (Cubs, Sox, Bears, Blackhawks), handmade craft items, rounds of golf, and gift certificates.

There Is So Much More Work to Be Done

As a community-based force for change, W2C is focused on improving the financial and cultural life of first-generation students.  All of our programs are designed to support and nurture their journey to a four-year degree from the college or university of their choice. Since 2009, we have had 29 scholars successfully graduate from college – with another 55 scholars in the midst of completing their four-year degree.

And, although we are very proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our first ten years, the number of first-generation college-bound students far surpasses our current resources to support all of them.  We need your help to reach more students and families.

We are hoping we can count on you as we enter our second decade of First-Generation Success.

With gratitude,

Elyse Danckers
