Description

On Friday, June 16, 2017, Ethos will hold its annual West Roxbury Rocks!, a celebration to benefit its AgeWell program which helps senior to living healthy, active and living independently in their community. The event will held from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., at the Irish Social Club of Boston at 119 Park Street in West Roxbury. The night will feature great food by Masona Grill, a performance by Comedian and Boston native Tony V, live music, dancing, a silent auction and raffles, all while supporting the AgeWell initiative.

Ethos is a private, not-for-profit organization (Tax ID#: 23-7304163), based in Boston, Massachusetts, that promotes the independence, dignity, and well-being of the elderly and disabled. Founded in 1973, Ethos achieves its mission through the coordination and delivery of high-quality, affordable home and community-based care.

10 years ago, Ethos started the AgeWell program with a simple premise: keep seniors active, healthy and living independently in their community. The program has been able to achieve amazing results through the hard work and dedication of a small but effective collective of staff and volunteers, and is funded primarily through individual donations and fundraising events.

Over the past three years alone, the AgeWell program has conducted more than 300 individual programs, events and health promotion classes with more than 8300 participants. It has received numerous recognitions including the Root Cause Social Innovation Forum “Innovator” award and has become a model for community-based elder programs throughout the country.

AgeWell West Roxbury mobilizes community resources so that seniors can live healthy, full lives “aging in place” in their communities and in their homes. Changing demographics, including the aging of Baby Boomers and longer life expectancies, have created the “Silver Tsunami,” a growing group of seniors facing new and diverse challenges, including the management of complex medical needs, physical and social isolation, and the graying of caregivers themselves. These challenges are forcing otherwise independent seniors out of their homes at a time when alternatives are scarce and expensive.

We humbly ask for your support through an in-kind donation for the event’s silent auction.
