Westwood Middle School in Elyria, Ohio, is hosting the 6th Annual Chili Cook-off and DC Auction to help raise funds for the 8th grade Washington DC trip. All proceeds from the night goes to offset the overall cost of the trip, which is well over $500 a student. Westwood is an urban middle school servicing over 500 students in grades 6-8. We are identified as economically disadvantaged due to the large percentage of our families living at or below the poverty line with 100% of our students eligible for free or reduced breakfasts and lunches.

This is our one major fundraiser for our 8th graders and we have done well in the past, however there is always room for improvement.  Our ultimate goal is to ensure that all of our students that want to attend the DC trip have that opportunity, without the weight of the financial resposibility.
