The Wichita Falls Buddy Walk is a an awareness event to promote acceptance and inclusion for those with Down syndrome. Down syndrome is a chromosomal disorder resulting in 3 copies of the 21st chromosome instead of the typical 2 copies. People with Down syndrome often have a lower IQ, different facial features, shorter stature and can be born with heart conditions. However, they are also joyous, helpful, empathetic, forgiving people who greatly enrich the lives of those around them. The Buddy Walk serves as not only an awareness event, but a day to truly celebrate the lives of our homies with extra chromies! It's a family-friendly event full of games, raffle drawings, bounce houses, prizes, music, food and fun for the entire community to enjoy! Proceeds from the walk benefit The Arc of Wichita County making it possible for them to continue their mission of serving individuals with all kinds of abilities, as well as Play for All Community Playground, an all-inclusive playground here in Wichita Falls.
