Description

Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra (SCVYO) is to provide student musicians with a high-quality, instrumental music education and experience; the opportunity to play in a full Symphony Orchestra; exposure to orchestral and chamber music literature from all historical periods and backgrounds; and the opportunity to grow and succeed as a musician in a friendly, supportive environment.

The SCVYO is the only instrumental music program available year-round to youth in the SCV to study and perform classical, contemporary, and chamber music repertoire. We include musicians from all socio-economic backgrounds, showcasing their skills while contributing to SCV’s cultural life. Artistically, we plan to continue offering our unique musical education and performance opportunities, including cross-platform performances in our concerts to come. These concerts will also be open to the public and be of interest to non-musician audiences. We will advertise and market these events through our website, social media, as well as print materials, in a focused effort to engage the broader SCV Community. The SCVYO emphasizes peer mentorship, creative expression, and cross-cultural dialogue for youth from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Group music-making is beneficial to the development of social skills and contributes to health and well-being throughout the lifespan, providing benefits to society as a whole.

Expanding our community partnership with the Santa Clarita Ballet, Calarts school of Dance and annimation allows us to bring multimedia, interactive community children's concerts to Santa Clarita Valley and beyond.
