Writer's Ink New Year's Writing Contest
Other Event Type for Writer's Ink NonprofitJan 11, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
About Writer's Ink: Since our founding in 2014, we've helped jumpstart over 1,000 students in Orange County on their creative writing journey through weekly workshops at over 7 OC Public Libraries.
This year, we are proud to announce that Writer's Ink is supplementing its third annual writing contest with the New Year's Writing Contest!
The New Year's Writing Contest is open to all elementary and middle school students in the Orange County region. Students can submit an original creative writing piece to be evaluated by a panel of judges. There will be a grand prize, 2nd, and 3rd place prize in each of the 3 grade categories. Additional awards will be decided by resource availability and judges' discretion.
In our past competitions, we've received over 300 submissions and are expecting even more for this year.
The purpose of our annual writing contest is to encourage local interest in creative writing, recognize stellar achievement, and offer an opportunity to our young students to submit the stories they write at our Writer's Ink workshops.
The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled on the morning of January 11 from 9:00am-12:00pm noon. We expect most of the participants and the members of their immediate family to attend. Sponsor logos will appear on all event-related flyers prior to and during the event.
