On behalf of Delaware’s first-ever Youth Action Board (YAB), I am writing to request your support for our YAB Graduation Ceremony, which is scheduled for June 5, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 pm. This event will be a meaningful occasion to honor and celebrate the remarkable achievements of our members, many of whom have overcome significant personal challenges, including homelessness. They are now using their experiences to drive real change in our community.

The Youth Action Board consists of young adults between the ages of 18-24, all of whom have lived through homelessness. Despite their past hardships, they remain determined to advocate for solutions to end youth homelessness and to actively contribute to community-based projects. Their motto is “YOUTH - Youth Organizing to Ultimately End Homelessness”, and they continue to raise their voices, engage with policymakers, and help those in need.

Some of our recent accomplishments include:

June 2024 Fundraiser: Raised $1,306 to support YAB initiatives.
June 2024 Convening: Seven YAB members presented at the “Homelessness in Delaware: New Ideas and Directions” event, advocating for innovative solutions to youth homelessness.
National Advocacy: Members attended conferences in California and Washington, D.C., where they met with legislators to discuss youth homelessness policies.
2025 PIT Count: Five YAB members participated in Delaware's annual Point-in-Time Count to assess homelessness and collect vital data for future policy decisions.
May 22, 2025: Several YAB members will attend Delaware’s Day of Housing event to speak directly with state legislators about housing initiatives and advocate for the needs of homeless youth.

The June 5th graduation ceremony will be a momentous occasion as we recognize these dedicated young adults for their service and commitment to ending homelessness. This event will celebrate their leadership, resilience, and advocacy efforts in transforming their own lives and the lives of others.
