The 1st Brigade Family Readiness Group (1BDEFRG) is designed similar to US military family readiness groups, however they recieve no funding from the Texas State Guard (TXSG), the State of Texas or any other goverment agency.  100% of the budget is derived from donations and support from the local community. 

The 1BDEFRG was set up to suport the family and soldiers of the 1st Brigade, Texas State Guard.  Many Texans are served by the Texas State Guard during disasters and at other community events.  The 1BDEFRG helps with morale, event planning, and family emergency support. With the increased deployments to operations such as Operation Lone Star, many of the TXSG soldiers have been away from home for extended periods which requires more support to families as they struggle with absense of a parent or spouse. 

The FRG is provides emergency financial support, emotional support and family support across the state of Texas. Additional support is provided by sending care packages to deployed TXSG and Texas National Guard troops.
