My name is Nate and I am a fundraising coordinator with 4Champ Animal Rescue. We are a registered charity rescue that is located in Hanmer, ON that is run solely by volunteers of all ages, genders, orientations, ethnicities and experiences!

We do a lot of work for many communities across Ontario by helping dogs in need. Our main goal for our rescue is to work with behavioural working dog breeds such as shepherds and Malinois, especially the ones with Bite histories. We work with surrenders, shelters, and local reserves to remove dogs that need rehabilitation and rehome them to homes that are made for them. On top of that, we also provide temporary fostering for Northern Reservation Communities so they can fly their pets in for vet care. Many Northern Reserves do not have vet clinics around and when medical care is needed, they are typically sent to rescues like us who help them through the process. We do not charge owners for foster care, transportation or food costs. We only require medical costs be covered by the owner if possible. We also work with the Foster Aid Program that helps pet parents find temporary housing for their pets while they deal with crisis situations such as domestic violence, homelessness, hospitalization and more. It is another cost of care that we cover because the owners do not need the extra stress while they become stabilized.

Offering these services provide so much for our communities and ecosystem. Wild dogs and cats are known to be the number one cause of ecosystem destruction in areas where they are living in abundance. So getting them off the streets, into rehab, and into furever homes helps the local ecosystem thrive. It also helps keep communities safe from zoonotic diseases such as rabies, ringworm, Lyme disease and more. And providing services for those finding stability helps them become successful and stable which allows them to become a productive member of society.

Our volunteers work hard with shelters, by-law, animal control, band representatives, and more to help save lives. If our team is not working towards saving animals, we are working towards raising donations to help us pay off our vet bill. Our vet is always being used because they are an invaluable resource that allows us to do the work we do.

We currently have a few big fundraisers this summer that we have planned and we are hoping to do an auction and some draws for baskets. If there’s anything that you’d be able to donate to help, this would be amazing and we’d be so appreciative!! I’ve attached the posters for our events down below as well!
