A Wish Come True, Inc. is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization founded on October 8, 1982. We are the oldest wish granting organization in RI and MA. Our Mission is to grant children suffering with a life threatening illness a magical wish. We provides wishes to children, ages 3-18, throughout RI and Southeastern MA.
The growth of the organization has truly been remarkable. Our 1st year, we granted twelve wishes and today we provide up to 30 wishes a year! The purpose of the wishes has changed over time. When we first began, our wishes were often a “final wish.” Today, our wishes are more of an opportunity to provide a needed break for the families. It is an opportunity to provide hope, love and happy memories to last a lifetime.
The average cost of a wish is $5,000-$7,000 depending on the size of the family and if any special medical equipment is needed. The most common Wish is to Florida’s Give Kids the World. Our families stay at this amazing village that has been built for sick children and their families. In turn, Give Kids the World partners with the local parks such as Disney World, Universal and Sea World for families to enjoy. Other wishes include computers, shopping sprees, bedroom makeovers and meeting their heroes to name a few.
In 2021, Our journey continues to grow to meet the challenges our A Wish Come True Families face. Our program expansion provides needed resources to families including access to a hardship fund, a Parents Be Well program and a Wish of Wellness for the entire family. We remain A Wish Come True FAMILYSTRONG!
