Our local Lansdale organization, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is a branch of National AAUW, a nationwide network of more than 100,000 members and donors, 1,000 branches, and 500 college/university institution partners. We are also a member of AAUW PA, which advances our mission with state issues.

Locally, members enjoy monthly meetings that feature speakers on a wide range of topics. These general membership meetings are free and open to the public. Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of the month at North Penn School District Educational Services Center (ESC), 401 East Hancock Street, Lansdale.

AAUW Lansdale PA Branch is visible in our community through the following annual projects:

In association with Montgomery County Community College for our two largest community events, we have gained resources and have been able to offer our programs to a much expanded area.

Our STEM program, Discover Your Future, is a day of hands-on activities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math for girls in grades 5 through 8. National studies have shown that by seventh grade, many girls are ambivalent about these fields, and by the end of high school, fewer girls than boys plan to pursue STEM in college. Yet careers in STEM areas can offer women the opportunity for discovery and technological innovation, and greater economic success and equality for women across the board.

On-Going Community Programs include: Excellence in Writing, a creative writing competition for area high school students; Write-Read-Write, a correspondence and gift book exchange between branch members and remedial readers in third grade; Let's Read Math, an after-school program for elementary students to enrich math learning and thinking through a story and hands-on, challenging, and fun math activities; the Women's Project, which is supported by contributions to West Main Consignment Shop and then in turn supports local women in need; and a Scholarship Program, offering scholarships to high school students in surrounding school districts.

To be able to fund our monthly meetings and community programs we have been holding Trivia Night and our Auction, both of which are open to the public. In addition to community projects, fundraising events, and monthly meetings, many members join various interest groups such as Bridge, Book Groups and a Movie Group.
