The Academy of Strings Foundation promotes and financially supports the charitable and educational purposes of the Academy of Strings. Established in 1991, the Academy of Strings' mission is to develop musical excellence in the region through quality music education, sponsor high quality performances in the area as well as raise funds for financial aid for those who need assistance with tuition. Currently, AOS has 110 students ages 3-18 who come from 5 counties in Northeast TN and Southwest VA twice a week. Students have shared their music in hospitals and schools, museums, churches, retirement/nursing homes and have partnered with other non-profit organizations which focus on youth-at-risk and the unsheltered.
