Aid the Silent is a Texas-based nonprofit that helps deaf and hard-of- hearing children and teens receive equal access to opportunity by providing financial assistance to enhance communication methods; gain access to education resources; and to improve their overall health, both mental and physical, that leads to individual growth socially, educationally and spiritually.
ATS assists deaf and hard-of-hearing children/teens (0-22/ graduation) all over U.S. with a focus on Texas by financially assisting through four program areas.
Deaf Resources provides:
- Hearing Aids
- Speech Therapy
- Sign language classes (family and individual)
- Classroom equipment (FM systems)
Deaf Education provides:
- Educator fees for conferences/trainings not covered under school district budgets
- Teacher supplies/resources/services that assist in educating the deaf/HOH student
- Field trip fees and deaf-accessible accommodations for deaf/HOH students
- Resources for music programs to enhance sound through tactile means
- Early intervention program
Deaf Ministry provides:
- Brings awareness of all-inclusive, deaf-accessible practices to churches and places of worship
- Camper fees for deaf/hard-of-hearing children and teens to attend faith-based camps
- Full deaf-accessibility to faith-based camps
- Basic life needs to deaf/HOH children/teens
Deaf Awareness:
- Educates the community through annual events, conferences and meetings
- Proper all-inclusive accommodations for events, meetings, church, school, etc.; how to communicate with a deaf/hard-of- hearing person
- Promotes inclusion and acceptance of all persons
