Founded in 1986, AIDS Outreach Center (AOC) began as a grassroots organization responding to the HIV epidemic. Since that time, AOC has been a leader in North Texas in the fight against HIV. Annually, 42 staff members provide services and education to over 2,000 people living with HIV and prevention services to over 3,500 people in our community.
The face of HIV has changed over the past 20 years. Once known in the public as a gay men's or drug addict's disease, people living with HIV now are overwhelmingly men and women of color, low income, and increasingly under 30 years old. At AOC, our goal is to sustain programs that work while creating innovative programs that meet the everchanging demographic of HIV/AIDS.
