Alexandra’s House is a nonprofit neonatal hospice program that has served thousands of families. In 2021 we provided services to over 100 families experiencing the heartache of neonatal infant death.
Who are we? Alexandra’s House functions primarily out of a home in Kansas City, Missouri. The founder of the organization, Miss Patti Lewis, along with her team of volunteers, provides consultations, support groups, and organization of hospice care and funeral or memorial services to families all over the greater Kansas City community.
Who do we serve? Initially the home focused on providing care to ill and abandoned infants, however since that time we have grown to serve families suffering from miscarriages, lethal anomalies and chromosomal abnormalities, and other life-threatening medical conditions diagnosed in utero or shortly after birth.
What can your sponsorship help provide? Money raised goes directly to providing services which are always given at no cost to the family. Funds raised keep the physical Alexandra’s House open. Many families choose to live in the home while their infant is in hospice care. Bringing a dying infant home is a heavy burden to bear and the home offers a sanctuary for their grief. The services include helping to bring meaning to the families' suffering, providing birth planning, attending doctor's visits, photography sessions, hospital-based labor and delivery, coordination of memorial services, long-term bereavement care, and anything else a suffering family may require.
