For over 31 years, Alliance for Education Solutions, Inc. (AES) has been working to improve the life chances of vulnerable youth by empowering their voice and fostering collaborative, cross-cultural, cross-generational relationships for systemic change. In the United States, 5.6 million young people (ages 16-24) are neither in school nor employed, and almost 1/2 of these youth are living in poverty. Many of these youth have suffered from abuse, homelessness, violence, been in foster care, and/or are disconnected from school through suspension or dropping out. Through our programs, AES provides vulnerable youth with mentorship, leadership and skills training, and hope to better their lives and communities. We also work with school administrators, legislators, and policymakers to create opportunities for young people to use their voice and work in collaboration with those in power to create positive change. Most recently we worked with the City of Sacramento to survey over 200 young people to inform future decisions regarding occupational and vocational opportunities post graduation. Our services range from monthly workshops, hosting large scale events and retreats and facilitating community centered seminars.
