We plan to host our Fundraising Event for Alpha Beta Foundation, a non-profit organized to encourage our youth to enter the field of education and provide support for Early Career Educators. A special dinner and raffle themed evening will be held at The Hilton Garden Inn, 1100 South Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314 where we are anticipating over 100 guests.

Education is the “Key to Success” for our children and, in turn, our community and country. Our children are our leaders of tomorrow, but they need great teachers to be inspired and achieve.

This event will serve the following purposes:
1.     Grant scholarships to qualified seniors from NYC Staten Island High Schools for HS seniors who have exhibited scholarship, leadership, citizenship, a work ethic, and community involvement entering college in the pursuit of a career in education.
2.     Support for Early Career Educators (SECE) by giving stipends to teachers for the purchase of books for reading corners, supplies for STEM activities, bulletin boards, and many other needed classroom materials to create a positive learning environment.

In return, and “thank you” event pamphlet which all guests will receive at the event will have your name as a donor.

ABOUT THE ALPHA BETA FOUNDATION
The Alpha Beta Foundation was created as a federally qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit, a non-stock corporation established in July 2017. Alpha Beta Foundation is an outgrowth of the Alpha Beta Chapter of women educators founded in 1955 on Staten Island with a present membership of 75. The Alpha Beta Chapter is part of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.  DKG is a professional Honor Society of Key Women Educators, founded in 1929 in Austin, Texas.  The membership has grown from the original 12 founders to over 65,000 members in 17 countries.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO - Since 2004, the Alpha Beta Chapter has had fundraisers and direct donations from members to fund scholarships to two high school seniors wishing to enter the field of education.  One scholarship is competitive and the other rotates among our Staten Island High Schools.

Five years ago, to provide support for Early Career Educators (SECE), we created a Fund a Teacher stipend to two teachers to purchase needed supplies for their classroom.  The teacher receives the stipend and is invited to attend our meetings and functions informing us how the money was used in the classroom.

MISSION - Grant scholarships to qualified seniors from Staten High Schools for High School seniors who have exhibited scholarship, leadership, citizenship, a work ethic and community involvement entering college in the pursuit of a career in education.
