Established more than 100 years ago, the AWC’s mission is to promote a spirit of community cooperation and to engage in all manner of charitable, social, educational and recreational endeavors conducive to the public welfare. The AWC is run by volunteers, and together we:

  • Maintain the historic Town Hall, an iconic Alpine landmark, built in 1899 using surplus wood from Hotel del Coronado. The building originally was a rest stop for weary stagecoach passengers and today serves as an event venue, community meeting space and central gathering point for east county residents.
  • Award scholarships to local Alpine students, having awarded more than $140,000 to help students pursue their educational goals.
  • Maintain a membership of nearly 100 diverse women from across East County San Diego and beyond, who regularly participate in community service and civic engagement activities.
