The American Cancer Society offer programs and services to help the more than 1.4 million cancer patients diagnosed each year in this country, and the 14 million cancer survivors – as well as their family. We provide information, day-to-day help, and emotional support. All our help is free.
With donations from Relay for Life the American Cancer Society offers support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether recently diagnosed, currently going through treatment, or are caring for a loved one with cancer, we’re here with information, day-to-day help, and emotional support every step of the way. From transportation to help making decisions about your care, we offer programs, services, and resources. Whether it’s the middle of the day or the middle of the night, our cancer information specialists are here to help. You may want someone to help guide you through your cancer care. An American Cancer Society patient navigator can help. The American Cancer Society program has patient navigators at hospitals, treatment centers, and other health care settings throughout the country. Even if you just need a friendly ear, we can assist in more than 200 languages (via a language line).
At Relay for Life events, communities across the globe come together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. The funds raised truly make a difference in the fight against cancer – just ask one of the nearly 14 million cancer survivors who will celebrate another birthday this year!
This year Covid restrictions will not allow our usual event (Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around a track or path at a local high school, park, or fairground. Events are up to 24 hours in length) because cancer never stops we don't stop fundraising. 2021 we are holding a smaller version to honor survivors and for cancer awareness and hopefully next year we can get back to our big event.
The Sonoma County Relay for Life It will be held Saturday, September 11 at Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, CA
