With the passage of this bill, we have a unique opportunity and responsibility to celebrate the rich traditional and contemporary American Indian culture in this state. House Bill 174 has now become a State Observance Law in the State of Texas. Signed by Gov. Perry, Friday, May 10 / HB 174 Makes Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. First American Indian Heritage Day in Texas.

This bill deserves passage and will bring recognition to the historical, cultural, and social contributions American Indian communities and leaders have made to the State of Texas.

. . . . . . . . . . .

reason for request: We are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of our organization, but celebrate our grassroots movement to create a State Holiday called " American Indian Heritage Day in Texas" that is celebrated by other entities state-wide as well as recognized nationwide. We are an American Indian community from the Indian Relocation Program of 1956 in Dallas.

We are having an American Indian Powwow to celebrate and connect with the Cultural Tourism lens to integrate more with the City of Dallas. We have alliances like the City of Dallas - Office of Equity / SMU Meadows / Diversity organizations / Salesforce / Office of Cultural Affairs / Nasher Sculpture Center / Visit Dallas / The Dallas Opera / Trinity Park Conservation and adding more from the Arts and Culture world.

Our celebration is an ecological movement to save Mother Earth, Protect our Rivers, Climate Change, and build a safe space to build a new era of Ecologists from the youth perspective and cultural DNA narrative. The request comes from our people who are loyal and wear jerseys to funerals and other branding of the team to events but show pride from the old days all the way to the Cotton Bowl days. So I wanted to connect with the Sports community to make an impact and wanted to only reach for your assistance on landmark celebrations for Dallas and to reach the American Indian community.

The site for the request will be at our celebration event: www.arkikosa.vision
