The Animal Protective League's (APL) mission is to care for ill, injured, and abused homeless animals, to coordinate their adoption by responsible pet owners, and to provide high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter services to end companion animal overpopulation. Through our limited admission animal shelter, APL saves the lives of the most vulnerable cats and dog-the sick, injured, stray, orphaned, and those surrendered to animal-control agencies-by administering veterinary care, providing temporary housing in our shelter or with a foster caretaker, and placing them in new homes with responsible owners.
Our shelter routinely adopts out over 2,400 animals each year. Because companion animal over-population fuels euthanasias at animal control facilities, APL operates a high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter clinic that performs over 10,000 surgeries every year for pet owners in the community as well as animal welfare organizations within a 90-mile radius.
