Anixter Center has proudly served hundreds of thousands of people in the Chicago area since 1919. Today, we focus our work on serving people with disabilities, mental health needs, and people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing through a variety of programs. Anixter began as an orphanage for children who lost their parents during the last global pandemic in 1919. Now, over 100 years later, Anixter serves over 7,000 people in the Chicagoland community through over 30 programs. Founded in 1916, the Chicago Hearing Society (CHS) has evolved and grown over the years, merging with Anixter Center in 1997. We have always leaned in where our communities need the most support–and we will continue to do so for years to come.
