We serve close to 1,000 students who are from high impoverish families that live well below the poverty line. Our school is a Title I school meaning all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch every day, and over 75% of our students receive additional services from various county organizations to help with food, clothing, and basic daily necessities. Close to 90% of our student population are from diverse family cultures, and about 60% of them grow up in homes where English isn't their first language spoken. The top two languages, in addition to English, spoken at our school are Spanish and Farsi. In addition to this, we have a large percentage of military families in our community and serve many students who have parents that are currently Active Duty military or Government workers, or Veterans who have served in the military. We pour the majority of our school donations and budget back into our students and their families on a daily basis. We provide many community events where we invite these families to our school, including but not limited to Math, Reading, and Science nights where we offer free resources, games, and family activities for our students and their households, Parent University nights where we offer resources and learning opportunities for parents such as language classes, basic skills classes, and connect them with community resources. We strive to engage and empower all learners to thrive. The Anne E. Moncure Elementary School community inspires lifelong learners and respectful, productive citizens. As the PTO, we serve to connect our Parents, Teachers, and Students as an organization that helps support, encourage, and uplift our school to be the best we can be each and every day.
