The Anthony M. Varvaro Believe Foundation is a 501(c)(3) recognized Not for Profit Corporation created by Anthony’s family in his memory. The word “Believe” in the name comes from a tattoo of that word which Anthony had on his wrist, also reflecting a core Foundation mission of delivering hope and belief to families going through unexpected tragedy. Beyond that, the Foundation’s purpose will be to enhance youth sports in the community, since Anthony heavily believed in and executed on that.
Anthony was one of the most humble people you would ever meet. He pitched in the MLB for multiple years spending most of this time with the Atlanta Braves. Anthony retired from the Boston Red Sox to pursue his career as a Port Authority Officer, which was a dream since he was a kid. It also would allow him more time with his growing family. Anthony got more involved with our local little league after moving back to Staten Island and was named President just a year before his passing. The impact Anthony had on others truly showed as various donations and groups came together to install lights, a project Anthony had been working towards, at the Little League within 5 months. We truly appreciate any support possible.
