The Apollo Chorus has been thrilling Chicago audiences since 1872, as the area's premier volunteer choir and one of the oldest musical ensembles in the United States. Its 115-plus auditioned members include men and women of all ages, races, creeds, and occupations brought together by their love of singing.

Each season, Apollo presents the masterworks of Western choral music, from Baroque to Broadway. In addition to taking audiences' breath away with the power of classic choral music, the Chorus is also known for performing a diverse mix of gospel, folk, American jazz, Brazilian samba and more. Year after year, critics and audiences alike delight in the artistry and passion of Apollo's performances.

The Chorus was founded in the aftermath of the Great Chicago Fire, in an effort to restore civic pride and boost the morale of Chicagoans following incredible devastation. The chorus continually strives to advance musically and to increase appreciation of choral music by presenting concerts and educational programs for diverse communities throughout the Chicago area.

Proceeds from our fundraiser and auction support our outreach programs, bringing free music to schools, nursing homes, community events, etc.
