Conservation, Education and Heritage

The Arizona Trapper's Association is a collection of people who honor and admire the beautiful fur bearing animals that nature has given us. We strive to ethically harvest various species under Arizona State Law giving us an opportunity to maintain healthy populations for environmental balance and scientific study.

Every person who traps should be required to have a license from the Arizona Department of Game and Fish. Every person in this Association who teaches their children and friends how to trap is required to follow a lawful and ethical path. Every person in this Association pays dues to preserve these principals and invests in our future. We are licensed and regulated.

If a member traps a critter, what can they do with it? Some choose to release because it might be too young, or it may be a female for further reproduction, or it may be an animal that was not targeted, like a rabbit or skunk! Others may simply photograph their catch for beauty and pride. If a critter is obviously very sick, it can be removed from the environment.
Some of our members harvest pelts for garments on the world market. This is done in a humane fashion. Animals may be used for taxidermy to show in zoo exhibits, retail stores, private collections and education. Areas of low density wildlife my be trapped and repopulated by order of the Game and Fish mandates or Wildlife Services on the Federal level. Some trapping is even for zoo requests.

Membership to this Association has benefits like classroom education, live demonstrations, trapping magazine discounts, national organization membership, fellowship of like minded conservationists, vendor connections, fur sale discounts, voice on policy and regulations, internet club organization and the ability to cast your vote for club leadership or even become a leader. We are a non-profit Arizona Corporation and have been organized under bylaws, articles and exempt tax law for decades. Our primary function is to provide education and moral guidance and intellectual support to our members.
