Aurora St. Anthony Neighborhood Development Corporation (ASANDC) started out as a neighborhood watch-group in the Summit University neighborhood founded in the 1980s in response to neighborhood crime. It was incorporated in 1982 and successfully brought together neighborhoods through block clubs and to remove unwanted businesses from the area. After successfully reducing local crime, ASANDC transitioned into a community development corporation in 1994, incorporating strategies related to housing development and mitigation of blight, and then expanded its footprint across the Frogtown and the Rondo neighborhoods. Today, ASANDC has integrated an array of programs to advance community wellbeing, all of which remain rooted in economic empowerment and social justice. We have been able to expand our community partners that share the same vision of providing financial education for adults and youth, support our small business and historic preservation efforts. Our mission "is to foster positive relationships within and between the neighborhoods we serve and to support our members in effecting the quality of life in their communities".
